Research and develop community engagement skills toolkits addressed to youth leaders and youth organizations (WP2)
Spain

The Mercados Unizar project, which began on October 22, 2023, and is still ongoing, focuses on young people and locally sourced food. It is a collaboration between the City Hall of Zaragoza and the University of Zaragoza to organize a weekly agri-food market at the Campus de San Francisco.

EcoFeria is a youth-led environmental awareness initiative in the rural regions of Aragón, Spain. Initiated in 2019 by the Jovenes Dinamizadores Rurales network, it engages young people from 17 peripheral regions in a two-phase program that combines local environmental action with regional collaboration and public exhibitions.

Romania

The I clean up in my village and I even pass over the fence! event, ongoing since 2022 in Daia Română, Romania, is a local initiative by the Association for Community Development and Eco-club volunteers. It focuses on cleaning green spaces, promoting responsible waste management, and raising environmental awareness among rural youth.

The #NatureThanksYou events, organized by the “Napoca Porolissum” Local Action Group in collaboration with the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, began in June 2021 and are ongoing in rural areas of Cluj, Romania. These events aim to connect young people with nature through activities like ecological clean-ups and tree planting, while also promoting cultural and recreational engagement.

The Fiësca Verd project, initiated in 2020 by four young individuals, focuses on urban requalification and enhancing green areas in Turin. This ongoing initiative manages three urban gardens within Turin, with one located in the peripheral Barriera di Milano district. The project aims to transform underutilized urban spaces into community gardens, promoting sustainability and urban regeneration.

Guidelines for Youth and Environmental Organisations

The “Guidelines for Youth and Environmental Organisations” is a practical resource developed as part of WP2 (A2.5) within the YOUproClima project to help youth workers and environmental organisations engage young people in climate action. It offers step-by-step guidance on using the project’s Digital Toolkit to foster awareness, develop skills, and support youth-led environmental initiatives through non-formal education.

Learning Programme

The YouProClima Learning Programme is an interactive educational guide designed as part of WP3 (A3.1) for youth workers and young people across Europe to promote climate action through hands-on activities. It offers workshops, roleplays, simulations, and creative tasks that build skills in community engagement, project planning, EU environmental policy, and digital communication. The programme empowers participants to investigate local environmental challenges, design solutions, and take meaningful action in their communities.

Digital Toolkit

The Digital Toolkit is a comprehensive guide that explores the concept of community engagement in the context of environmental issues and climate change within youth in peripheral areas. It provides valuable information, resources, and strategies to empower individuals, especially youth, and communities in their efforts to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices.
It is based on the three macro areas of participation:
– horizontal – Participatory action facilitation
– vertical – Advocacy promotion
– transversal – Competences for awareness raising techniques
